The original operating program for The Sharon Housing Trust involved providing single family New England-style homes for those who work or live in Sharon. The homes would be scattered throughout Sharon on individual lots. The key feature would be to maintain the affordability in perpetuity, accomplished through the use of a ground lease.
The Sharon Housing Trust recognizes the pressing need for more affordable housing solutions in Sharon, Connecticut. The Trust is operating from the Town of Sharon, Connecticut Affordable Housing Plan (available below) in an attempt to secure site control of a parcel(s) that would make a major impact on the ability to provide affordable housing. It's important that the project would be compatible with the goals of the State of Connecticut as it seeks to provide funding for bona-fide projects identified as serving the needs of more affordable housing.
