Our History

The Sharon Housing Trust was created in 2005 by a group of long-time Sharon residents who were working under the auspices of the Town of Sharon as it worked to draft its first affordable housing plan.

In 2005, the Board consisted of the following members:

The original operating program for the Sharon Housing Trust involved providing single family New England-style homes for those who work or live in Sharon.  The homes were to be scattered throughout Sharon on individual lots. The key feature was to be to maintain affordability in perpetuity through the use of a ground lease.

As of the beginning of 2023, a new board of Sharon residents was put in place to continue the work of the prior board. Since then, the Sharon Housing Trust has purchased 91, 93 and 95 North Main Street, leased 99 North Main Street from the Town of Sharon, begun renovations and the conversion of these buildings, been given a building plot at 160 Silver Lake Shores Road and has taken initial steps toward the construction of a new, one-family, three-bedroom house on that plot.
